Am I too old to have fun with my kids?
I always complain about my children not wanting me anymore. My little boys and girls decided that it’s about time for them to have their own private space in the house. Oh I don’t know why, but I really feel bad about it. I think we cannot really hold the time to stop moving so that these children will not grow up. I miss our bonding moments together like the baking of our favorite cake, the going to the mall and watching movies, and the time when I have to tuck them in bed at night and give them kisses. Don’t you feel the same way too?
I am not yet ready for this drastic change, I still want them to rely on me whenever they have problems or they want me to cook for them their favorite dish. I still want to hang out with them and watch cartoons all day long and enjoy each other’s company. I still want to play with them like making accessories and doing our hair. I want to spend time with them at the grocery and enjoying how they ask lots of questions on things. How they help me with the laundry, I will sure miss that.
Kids today! They just want to grow up fast yet when they reached the age of maturity they want to be young again. How ironic is it? They don’t know how to appreciate the importance of enjoying childhood. That’s why as much as possible I still want them to enjoy what kids their age enjoy. Like yesterday one of my daughters requested me to buy make up. She’s just 8! I really talked to her about the importance of waiting for the right time. I told her that there’s nothing wrong with being natural. Those make up can wait when she’s at the right age.
Now that one of my boys is going to celebrate his 10th birthday, I want to give him something memorable, something that he will keep and cherish and when he sees it he will remember me.
